You have asked a good question here. Regrettably you brought it to a location on the Internet where good people could unintentionally give you bad counsel, even as I have done, here on Yahoo Answers. Your question is more important than that and you should seek a more qualified assessment than you might find here.

There are some places on the Internet you can type keywords in to find web sites with a world of information that can help. Some are http://search.yahoo.com , http://google.com , and http://Ask.com just to name a few. There are other search engines on the Internet that are highly specialized in the kind of help you seek such as http://www.webmd.com/.

Good luck in your endeavors and I hope you find the answers you seek.
Jon

Pittsburg should have a bariatric program at one of the hospitals?? check out Obesity.com,there are a lot of answers and support there!! my wife had the procedure done to stop massive hernias, she is getting along well. you need to weigh the good and bad effects that come with this operation, you will need to watch and take vitamin supplements and protein supplements after to thwart onset problems as your body cannot absorb enuff from your stomach.Talk to a GOOD bariatric Dr,!! I know that Cleveland Clinic has a good program and there is also one in Akron, ohio. good luck and fight the good fight!!there is hope!!

Go to the Obesity Help website and read up on the surgeons in your area. Not all of them are equal. If you know anyone who's had the surgery in your area talk to them as well.

Gastric Bypass Surgery /gastrectomy/stomach stapling /lapband (all types of bariatric surgery) is very safe nowadays. It is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as obesity surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your obesity surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her surgery for gastric bypass in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She has lost 65lbs in 5 months. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.hope this helps

Ask your doctor.

Cutting out a major organ is not a good thing to do to lose weight. My friend had it done a few years ago. She went into a persistent vegetative state (coma) 5 months later.

But she's skinny.
