My mom recently joined an online crafts forum and she met a woman on it who wants our home address. Supposedly, some of the people on the forum like to send each other cards and care packages every once in a while. It sounds like a really nice thing and my mom could use something like that, but both our family and this woman live in Illinois. Should we give her our address or not?

If your really worried about giving out your address, then just open up a PO box or something. That way you can send and recieve stuff through it without anyone really knowing your true address.

Sounds fishy. Your Mom should get to know these people better, before giving out personal info like that. Suppose this person isn't really a woman, but a male sex offender? Warn her to be VERY careful and not to rush into doing anything without checking these folks out first. I really agree with bobby'sgirl703's answer: Have Mom get a P.O. Box!

I would at least wait...maybe try to do some research on this forum to see if anything 'bad' comes up on the Net. It may be a great site with truthful people, but these days you really have to be careful!

Who know now a days u have to be careful with everything. Ur mom should get a p.o. bx number, that may be the safe way to go about this because u just not know, it's ALWAYS best to be safe then sorry.

It's likely ok. But I would have your mother ask other people in the group if it's something they ordinarily do and if they are comfortable with it. I am part of some online groups where people have my address, and I have never had any problems. Sometimes we exchange postcards.

My father traded poker chips on line but never gave his address or other personal information out. But, about four times a year he met at conventions with other traders, and, after they met personally, my dad then released his address and telephone number and such.

If your really worried, have your mom get a post office box. Then no one would know your real address.

What would it hurt? Is she going to steal your house? People that you do not know see where you live every single day.
I do not see a problem with it.

i rly dont think u should. because there are some realy crazy people out there and its just not safe enought to do so.
