Any creature will attack if cornered. Mice like most other animals will try to escape first but will attack if they have to.

Errr... from my experience with them, no. They are usually more afraid of humans than humans are of them, so they will just try to crawl away. Rats, on the other hand can and will attack, especially if they can't find a reliable source of food and are literally starving.
