No. You should provide your own basic needs, including food, housing, clothing and health care.

As the old saying goes " the best government is the one that governs the least". Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not promoting anarchy, but I am promoting capitalism and free ideals. I'm a fellow debater and I say no due to a few simple points of analysis.
First, the situation changes from government to government. The U.S. has a substantial national debt of over 8.6 trillion dollars (U.S. Bureau of Public Debt) that is increasing over 2 billion PER DAY. Now, if the U.S. govt. introduced a policy of universal health care, our economy would be ruined and America would fall into a second great depression, so aren't we just in our actions by not providing health care to our citizens.
Second, is there such a thing as a just government. What EXACTLY makes a government just? Being fair to everyone? But is any government actually fair to everyone? If not, then a theoretical just government must be used in the debate.
Third, in the US, 40 million people don't have healthcare, but 29 million of them are eligible for government assistance but refuse to accept it. (Cato Institute), this isn't the governments problem, but the peoples problem.

yes, governments should provide free health care to all of its citizens. it helps to keep the standard of living for middle class and lower class at an even range...everyone is treated equally, the way it should be. no one should be able to receive extra treament to make them healthier or whatever just because they have money. if the government were enforce health insurance and private health care, it would segregate living classes even further and create a larger gap in the standard of living..this would eventully put a down on our economy and the people of middle and lower classes. plus, we're all human beings with the same feelings and experiences, so why be treated differently in the eyes of optimal health? everyone deserves to live and prosper in a healthy way.

I believe that the government should provide health care to its citizens ,Health care is extremely expensive and the majority of people in this country have low pay jobs. With the high cost of living many people cannot afford to get sick ,yet, illness and disease are a part of life that we sometimes cannot avoid. Bad health causes homelessness ,crime and various other problems .I had first hand experience with this problem , I lost my health and wound up losing my job and my home as well as my life savings . I was fortunate enough to have a loving father and mother who cared for me and did as much as they could to provide for me.. and still it wasn't enough because of the high cost of medical ... I almost lost my life on several occasions, l was able to take advantage of the medicaid program in my state of NY(I was not living in NY and had to move back in order to take advantage of the program so that I could have my surgery)Thank God it is all over now and God bless my father (1936-2002)for all his loving support.
