I know people who work in Intelligence. As someone pointed out in their answers, they'd never divulge their identities and would prefer that people believe that it's just a Myth or people who believe in way too many Conspiracy Theories.

Surprisingly enough, there actually are agents like that belonging to a secret organization right down to the high-tech gadgets you see in the movies. In fact, the gadgetry that's used by those agents is even more sophisticated than what you see in the movies.

The stuff that is seen in the movies is a bit more crude and the designs are set up to be appealing to the audiences such as the vehicles. The real stuff that is used by agents is designed to very obscure and certainly not anything an agent would carry on them save for a computer.

With agents that need to have mobility, it's too limiting and would cause suspicion carrying around stuff like that, which could be picked up scanners at the airports.

Special agents are trained in martial arts so that they don't have to carry something that conspicuous such as a weapon. Anything that requires actual weaponry is left tot he military and Special Ops.

When you see James Bond going into certain places, that would be more for Special Ops and Navy Seals who have been equipped and trained to handle special weaponry. In such cases, it requires a team.

The concept of a Super Spy such as James Bond is more cerebral. People like James Bond do exist. Though it's not as glamorous with all those Bond Girls. That's fabricated and put in there by the author.

The most important thing to know though is that they're out there protecting the world and subtly nudging things in ways that turn the tides in World Politics. Many of them are unsung heroes because they have to remain hidden.

It's a job that isn't done for the glory or the fame.

Yes, there are agents like James Bond - or people who think they are. Where ? It is not secret: England. To be more specific: the police under Tony Blair policies. They think they have the same lack of respect for people that James Bond shows in "his" films, going in and out of any place, any time, killing anyone who passes in front of their gun. They kill a Brazilian in the Metro (July 22nd, 2005), soon after that terrible terrorist attack. It was a terrible mistake, really a crime. Who did this ? Tony Blair James Bond.

Jeez... are you five years old?

Of course there are real spies! They are not as "glamourous" or "noble" as the ones in movies, more likely they are doing shady stuff that governments don't want to admit, such as supporting coup d'etats (like the CIA fellows did here in Argentina! they actually handed the 'black lists' to local death squads during the 1976-83 dictatorship, just to give you an example - sadly there are many more of western countries organizing coups against the third world), engaging in black operatives, stealing industrial secrets, helping in the overthrow of governments of other countries (including democratic govs, such as Allende or Mossadeq), and other terrible crimes.

Where do you think names like CIA, KGB, or MI5 come from? They are real organizations!
Don't you know what your country does in the world?

People like Kissinger should be tried for crimes against humanity, yet none of this stuff will come to light if people don't inform themselves about it!

James Bond is an entirely fictional character created by Ian Fleming. There is nothing real about him or his escapades.

My sturdy acquaintances be attentive to that they might open as much as me. no longer in basic terms by using fact I won't breach their self assurance, yet by using fact they be attentive to if I provide them suggestion, i will shoot as we communicate with them. I won't sugar-coat something. I won't repeat those issues whether they overlook to question me to no longer. whether, i like a quote that Mae West as quickly as coined: "you start to maintain secrets and methods, and your secrets and methods will shop you."

well, its not as exagerated as the movies, but from my knowledge, there are CIA agents working for the government for more "realistic" reasons.
