It doesn't matter who or why, it matters only that you would. Self sacrafice is the greatest of gifts. Just ask Jesus.

I would not hesitate to give up my life for my grown daughter (my only child). It would, however, be an unfair exchange since she is worth so much more in my eyes than I am.

Likewise, I would surrender my life for my ex-wife, who is also a much better person than I am. She is kind and thoughtful and a perfect mother and I daresay grandmother.

Lastly, I would surrender my life for my best friend of 43 year.s He is and always has been more than a brother to me. I would not hesitate but consider it an honor to die in his place.
