Funeral services for former Wyoming House Representative and Fort Laramie resident James C. Hageman, 76, will be at 1:30 p.m. on Monday the First Wyoming United Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Curtis Hill officiating. Cremation will follow the services, and private family burial will be at a later date. Jim spent his last hours surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren and passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2006, in Cheyenne. Visitation hours will be on Sunday at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel from 3-7 p.m. The casket will be closed at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory may be directed to either the Fort Laramie Presbyterian Church, the Western History Museum, or to any rural volunteer fire department. Arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home, and friends are invited to send condolences to the family at www.colyerfuneralhome.com. He was born on March 2, 1930, in Douglas, the son of Fred and Ruth (Shaw) Hageman. He grew up and received his early education at Shawnee. He went on to graduate from Douglas High School in 1948. He then attended the University of Wyoming for two years before entering the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge from service, he met and eventually married Marion Malvin on May 19, 1956, in Douglas. The couple then ran a sheep ranch north of Douglas for five years before moving to a ranch near Fort Laramie, where they have resided since. He served Wyoming for 24 years in the House of Representatives for Goshen, Platte and Converse counties. He also served for nine years on the Goshen County School Board, and he was a life member of the Wyoming Stock Growers Association. He was also a member of Farm Bureau, the American Legion, the Moose, the Environmental Institute at the University of Wyoming and the Wyoming Woolgrowers Association. He was a former board member of the University of Wyoming Alumni Association, and he served on the Board of Directors for the Western History Center. He also worked closely with the local Conservation Districts and the Wyoming Weed & Pest. He had served as chairman for the Education Committee and at the time of his death, he was serving as chairman of the Ag Committee. He and his wife served as foster parents to many children. He was honored as National Parent of the Year in 1996, and the couple was honored as University of Wyoming Family of the Year and as the Wyoming Livestock Roundup Ag Family of the Year in 2002. He received an Honorary Doctor of Law Degree from the University of Wyoming 2006. His lifetime passions were ranching, his family, education and the State of Wyoming. Even though he spent his life in public service, Jim’s true purpose was on a horse caring for his livestock. His wit and sense of humor were enjoyed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Marion of Fort Laramie; three daughters, Julia (Ross) Newman of Torrington; Rachel (Jim) Rubino of Laramie, and Harriet (John Sundahl) Hageman of Cheyenne; four sons, James (Kyra) Hageman of Casper, Hugh (Mary Lee) Hageman of Fort Laramie, Dewey (Dinelle) Hageman of Jay Em, and John Hageman of Las Vegas; three sisters, Margaret Sedenquist of Pasadena, Calif., Patti Cobb of Walla Walla, Wash., and Kathy Hall of Grand Junction, Colo.; one brother, Fred Hageman of Sun City, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Hilda.

I cannot find a listing for Fort Laramie as far as papers go. You could try surrounding area newspapers. I suppose you could check the Boomerang in Laramie. But Laramie and Fort Laramie are not even in the same county so I'm not sure you'll find what you're looking for. Fort Laramie is Goshen County. Laramie is Albany. I know, I used to live in Laramie and I worked for their paper and I sometimes had to do the obits.
You could do a general serach for recent Wyoming obits. Or narrow it by county. Good luck.
