Dune.
It combines sci-fi, sociology, religion, politics and adventure and does it very well.

2001 a space odyssey, I happen to be a fan of both Stanley Kubrick and Aurthur C. Clarke. The movie also attempts to answer questions of the origins and the destiny of the human race in it's own fictional universe, Plus has one of the most underrated "bad guy" ever in movies, HAL.

The Big Lebowski, it has a little bit of everything that I love. It's an original comedy with some drama. Foul language, drugs, sex and bowling. It's my all time favorite.
