My college mates and I were discussing this after reading this blog.
http://olivesopinion.blogspot.com/2006/09/i-know-you-dont-like-to-wear-your.html

I found alot of questions on Yahoo answers about it.
Frankly I am shocked.
None of my friends cared that we needed to actually read to find out what was going on, but some people said that it was too long.
I realize that British people do actually read more than Americans but this is pityful. I'm not being rude just truthful.Note, I have friends of all colors but all are college educated. But I do know two people from the US, and they like to read too, but that's 2 out of like 100,000.

I absolutely love to read, and am always in the middle of a book. I have loved reading ever since I can remember, and it has definitely helped with spelling, comprehension, etc. I also find a book much better than a movie. I have three kids, none of whom like to read much, and it makes me sad because their spelling and comprehension is not up to par. Still, plenty of Americans do love to read!

Sorry Hot stuff.

Looks like no one actually read what you were talking about.
Stay in college man, where folks actually answer questions.
Just kidding. Wink. Wink.

Just a reminder, I am American and read alot. But compared to a Brit who reads alot, I might be ashamed to call myself a book worm. And when I say read I mean books, not magazines, or cereal boxes.

But I agree with you on the commercials tv thing. It's really to many and I think that might cause ADD. But I'm no doctor, at least not yet.

I dont think that you are being fair to the Americans. I know for a fact that we work more hours. I would like to know how the Brits divide up their time during the day. I use to read a lot growing up when I did not have the stress and strain of daily life. In your defense we have let the technology become the bane of our existence. I have started the hobbit and Giovannis Room.

i'm a youthful author to boot, and there have been cases that I even have been very tempted to easily throw all of it away (frustration will try this too you). do no longer. there'll continually be those little issues that get you down...and as for what your instructor mentioned; all of us would desire to start someplace. No author is born in call for, there is in basic terms one thank you to alter right into a useful author and that's to jot down. it relatively is all with reference to the dream, by no potential enable that die. i be attentive to from journey that between the right-rated issues in writing is the delight you sense once you examine your very own words, whilst even you at the instant are not constructive what's going to happen next. it extremely is an artwork variety that would desire to die if gifted human beings provide up on it. sturdy success in all of you endeavors. by no potential provide up on certainly one of these dazzling dream.

I'm not so sure you Brits read more that we Americans, I read at least one book a week. But I think that people are just too lazy to read, that and their not very good at it . Reading takes practice. I mean why read when you can watch TV, right?

I love reading! People actually give funny looks when they look in my bag and find a book. Then they look in my car and find 3 more. I just don't seem like the typical book worm I suppose, people should read more. Then there'd be smarter guys to date!

b/c people are relying too much more on electronics to find information and get their work done. they are watching movies to find out what happens instead of reading the book. they think it's faster and saves time than having to read. i agree with you reading is important esp. for reading comprehension and vocabulary.

Don't generalize. Some Americans read a lot, others don't. And you'd be hard-pressed to convince me that some Britons don't read much either.

That blog is NOT too long. I understand we read less than you guys but come on, that blog was not so difficult.

Alot of far fetched commentary and heated discussions.

Anyhow. Have a nice night. Thanks for the link, though I am already an Olive fan.
