I usually turn on music (but turn the volume low) and it helps me fall asleep.

Are you depressed, if you keep going this way you will get there, sleep deprevation is not good honey.
Try reading a really boring book, no caffeine,(tea, pop, coffee, chocolate) start with after 8:00pm. If the problem persists see a doctor, I really am concerned the next symptom is no appetite, a feeling of being overwhelmed over the smallest chores. Good luck and get that check up.

Make sure you eat well at night. Do not exercise later at night. Also take the calcium, magnesium and zinc supplement at night before sleep. Most of the vitamins and mineral supplements have to be taken after a meal for better absorption. The calcium, magnesium and zinc supplement that suits me is from Trader Joe's and it is very inexpensive. Make sure you do a search about these minerals. Also cut down on caffeine.

I have always had problems sleeping. A few months ago, I tried Melatonin. It's over the counter. Take one 30 minutes before going to bed, it worked really well for me and I couldn't find any side effects listed anywhere on the internet or any of the books I use at work (I work at a doctors office). I suggest you talk to your doctor also. I also read before bed and it makes me sleepy and relaxed. Sweet Dreams!

Music without words is good (aka instrumental), but make sure it's on low. If you're having a lot of trouble with this and it's effecting your life through the day I'd try sleeping pills.

get the stress out of your life and if that does not work then try Tylenol Pm's.
edit: I too have the same problem and really stress is a big factor in most peoples sleeping habits. try the Tylenol, if you don't think it's working for you then of coarse try something else or speak to your doctor. most however, like to put you on things that are addictive. that is why I'm trying to get you to try for yourself first. good luck!!!!

This very well may be insomnia, which there are meds for. Also, if you are not sleepy do not just lay in the bed, get up and do something, it makes you less sleepy if you lay there thinking about sleep.
