I did study...but any particular referal phrases? I just need to match the symbol to word for first 10, then spelling for another 10.

Only elements # 1 - 20. Thanks

When memorizing stuff I like to use little sayings like when I was learning the countries in Africa freshman year, I made up a saying using the first letters of the countries' names and in the order they appeared left to right..
For example: Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt =
Many Americans Typically Love Eggs

It may not always be true (sometimes there are 'zebras who paint a house or something like that) but it really helps me, 'cause then all I have to do is say the little saying and I automatically know the names of what I memorized and in what order they appear in...Good luck on your test!

I used to have a song or a long catch phrase with words that matched the letters of the elements. My teacher taught it to us that way - but it was so many years ago I can't remember it anymore.

Maybe you can make up your own song or phrase to remember them?

Try to learn the patterns of the properties. Are they in the same group? If so, they have will have similar properties. Are they at the bottom of the chart? If so the atom is bigger. etc. But I think your teacher just wants you to learn the first 20 symbols. Memorize them.

just memorize the first 3. Then add 3 more. Keep doing this until you have them all.
