They will give your body a small amount of nicotine without all of the cancer causing chemicals of cigarettes. It is only a small amount and is decreased slowly. Hi Kashyap, First of all, don act like a dumbo. Secondly, go through this... 1) No. 2) Quite the opposite. 3) Quitting smoking, or better still not taking it up, is the best thing you can do to reduce your risk of developing lung cancer. 4) Around 80% of all lung cancer deaths are the direct result of tobacco smoking. 5) There is no evidence that quitting smoking can cause lung cancer. In fact, the body starts repairing the damage caused by smoking from the day a person quits. 6) Quitting at any age will improve your health; the greatest benefits are experienced by those who quit smoking earlier in life. 7) For most people, quitting smoking will have their risk of lung cancer after 10 years. 8) The body of scientific evidence is clear that smoking is far and away the leading cause of lung cancer. So, Quitting Tobacco is never too late. I hope this helps you. BEST OF LUCK :)

I quit smoking a year and a half ago. I did it by eating flavoured sunflower seeds. The key besides will power is to distract yourself and give your hands, and your mouth something to do. The other real problem was breaking those habit times. I would always have a smoke when I first woke up in the morning, and found that to be the hardest time to avoid having one. Don't be too hard on yourself if you slip every now and then they say quitting smoking is harder than quitting heroin. Also don't be surprised if you gain a little weight and are moody for awhile.

I am into my 4th year of not smoking, yeahhh. When I got to the stage your at I bought the pretzle rods and i would keep those in my mouth alot! Also if you get tired of those I also had ligourse, I can not spell it right. But good luck to you both. If you get to where you might light one up just think of all the moment you wanted one and didnt. I know you both can do it. Just keep your mind on something all the time EXCEPT the cancer stick. :-) Also what kept me on the good side of it was knowing the people around me was saying I couldnt do it, I did!!! And so can you!!!!!

It won't last...once you've made up your mind the hardest part is over...nicotine is driven out of your system very rapidly...after that it's just (just!!!) cravings but not for the drug...the cravings will disappear over time....you will feel so much better even a week from now..trust me I've done it twice...don't even consider one drag...stay away from alcohol for a while...if it gets really bad ..get some nicorettes or other patch or something...good luck...whatever, the worst is now ending....and always remember that millions -millions!!! of people have successfully done this...and most of them felt exactly as you do now...and if they can do it so can you.

Gum - and sugarless candies.
Also use mouthwash and brush your teeth alot - keep reminding yourself that the mint flavor and not smelling like smoke is lots more appealing.....besides it's very very not acceptable any more

Try the nicotine patch, gum or lozenges. You can have the nicotine without inhaling all the other bad stuff.
