It seems that we've all been given the name Bible bashers....I mean wow whoever came an threw it at your head was totally wrong. Even we have to show repsect when we disagree. There was a comment "come back when we're perfect" and your right its not going to happen. We've all got dirt.
But what is it really? That we push your buttons on something you threw in our face? That we profess Jesus Christ as Lord and savoir. Or is it because you know you're wrong and are angry at the mirror that finally shows you for who you really are?

*Oh also by asking this question I am not shaken in my faith :)- *

I know what your talking about, But what non Christians don`t understand, Is that Christains, In order to be real christians are obligated to talk to people about going to church, and about sin, and what is sin, and how to turn your life around, and live for God. thats what being a christian is, other wise we are just like everyone else, thats what they call hypocrites. someone who claimes to be something they are not, because they will not say what needs to be said, because they are scared they will upset someone. well if your gonna turn someones life around, they are gonna be upset, till they see the truth, and feel the spirit of the one true GOD ALMIGHTY.

There isnt a problem being a Christian, the issue is those who want to change someone else's lives yet they can't take care of thier own.

It is great to bring your ideas onto people, but if someone doesn't believe it or chooses not to believe in the same thing(s) that you do, then you need to let them be who they are.

That is what religion was all about when the first settlers from overseas came over. They wanted the right to believe in whatever faith that they wanted to believe in. So as a citizen living in this country, I choose to believe there is a higher power, I choose to believe that there is something else out there, I also choose that we are here to learn something, that we have already planned our lives out prior to arriving here, and when we go back, we should have learned a lesson.

Your faith might believe in something else, and I am open to the idea of what the Bible says. Does it mean that I am for certian that it is all completely accurate? No. Same thing with Scientology...Science is a never ending learning expeirience, how can you be certian that those that believe in science knows anything more than those that believe in the Bible?

Faith is believing in something that is unseen. We all have faith in something, just may be something different than what christians believe in. So profess your love for Jesus and the savior. Others will profess thier love to the goddess, or allayh or budda, or whomever they believe is thier higher power.

Thou shall have no other gods before me. Nothing states that all these gods isn't the same person, just a matter of looking at him/her. Christians believe in loving one another, yet putting all the hate and such in the diversity just because the person isn't just like you doesn't make much sense either.

Why is it in the Bible that God seperated everyone to different parts of the globe and gave them different languages to speak. So that those that were together couldn't know what the others were talking about, so that they couldn't come together to build something like they had. Yet now it is almost essensial that you must learn a second language? Is that how God wanted it to be? Not according to the Bible. So it is right to follow some things in the Bible, but not everything. Or the fact that that New Testament of the Bible, counteracts many things that were placed into the Old Testament?

People will believe what they want. Some will put all effort into thier faith, others want something to prove what to believe. And since Faith can not be proven, you can not push a religion onto everyone and expect them to believe what you say is what is suppose to happen.

First of all, this question is being asked in GLBT category, which is a place that the right wing knee jerk reactionary Christian Fundamentalists come to harrass homosexuals. If you doubt this just read some of the garbage at any given moment.

I am an ex-Christian, having nothing what ever to do with being gay actually. There are some very fine gay Christians (although some on here would argue they are not "true" Christians because of some misinterpretations that have been taught as gospel for a very long time.

There is nothing wrong with being a Christian, but it is not the fact of being that is objectionable to most gays, it is that they have for so long been badgered, harrassed, condemned, beaten, villified, and killed based on what the perpetrators claim is the gospel of Christianity.

If you want to base your beliefs on a book that is fine with me. When you try to make your rules my laws I have a problem with that.

I am a follower of the Tao. I went through some study of Buddhism before realizing the way of the Tao was my path. I do not try to make my path yours, or preach that my way is better than yours, yet so many Christians persist in preaching at me and trying to change my religion and in fact, what I am (a lesbian)

I would venture to guess that less than half the folks who read your question even know the difference between morals and ethics.. do you? Your morals are your business, your ethics on the other hand are mine when they interfer with my freedoms.

And by the way, I seriously doubt that you could push any of my buttons.. and I have no problem with my mirror, and I know I am not wrong. I do not need faith as you do, I have experience. (If you could prove to the world your God existed and was the way... your faith would be worth nothing at all.)

D'you want to really know what the problem is?
Too darn many want to wave the Jesus flag, talk about "well I don't do that(bashing)" but haven't the NERVE to step up and face down the bashers in the same type manner "you" show in defensive posturing over your beliefs. Too darn many don't stop for one instant to consider that quite a few who come to this forum are NOT Christians and could frankly care less if you call Jesus, God, or Ronald McDonald your savior and when told that you proceed with dismissive comments such as "Well may He open your eyes" which shows a complete lack of respect for any belief other than your own(as classically exhibited by your final two comments).

If you want respect, you have to earn it. By being silent toward those who are attacking, you are little better than they are, I suppose many of you have already forgotten the lesson of the Moneychangers in the temple. I would not stand by and watch someone of MY particular religious belief bashing others(or any other wrong action) while claiming my religion as a basis of that "right" and neither should you.

the problem is the judgementalism. a religion should be a vehicle to bring you closer to the creator. it should bring you closer to reaching a level of spiritual inner peace. it is a very personal thing between you and the higher power that you believe in. It should not be a reason to constantly criticize and judge others. No, the problem with christianity is not that i am wrong and angry at the distorted mirror image that you may try to show me. the problem is that the "christ" personage that you believe in is based on a myth, yet you use him to make yourself feel good and beat everyone else down. thats just wrong.

For some GLBT people, their only interaction with openly christian people has been having the bible thrown at them. For others, it just seems to happen all the time and they've been taught by the actual "bible bashers" to associate christianity with ingorant people and hate. For a lot of us GLBT people we've just had it thrown at us so much that christianity and sexuality is an area that's really touch for us and is an easy way to set us off. Then there are also ignorant GLBT people that think christians=bad. This pretty much sums up hostility for christians for many LGBT people. There are different reasons for different people though.

One of the areas for me is not so much the the subject of religion and sexuality, but the idea that I see in christianity of "my way or hell." For example, in your question you state, "Or is it because you know you're wrong and are angry at the mirror that finally shows you for who you really are?" It's that view of either you're with us or you're wrong. I myself am a wiccan. My religion teaches that everyone's religious views are valid to them and that's all that should matter. If someone disagrees with me that does not make either of us right or wrong, just different.

Another thing that annoys me is christians speaking for everyone. Some say that homosexuality is wrong because god says so and the bible says so, but there isn't even a christian concensus to base that on! There are arguments for and against homosexuality and christianity and for someone to say that the bible says it's wrong are speaking for a lot of christians that think it's ok to be gay. Also, they speak for everyone when they say god says it's wrong. I've spent my fair share of time speaking with the goddess, and I've never gotten the impression that being homosexual was wrong. I've yet to hear a christian state "According to (insert a christian denomination here), our interpretation of (insert a version of the bible here) states that *my* god is against homosexual acts." It's usually some version of "God hates gays!" that's said instead.

I'm atheist and have no problem with Christians. Or Jews, or Muslims, or anyone else.

My problem is with the people who come on to this area and answer a question saying, "God can forgive you this sin" or "I pray that God can help you back onto the right path." These people are implicitly implying that being gay is some sick twisted thing that should be removed from the face of the Earth.

I don't have a problem with the religion, I have a problem with the people who feel they need to "save us."

Christian religions have always had arguments among eachother. Protestants know their bible inside and out so don't argue with them. Cathlics try not to argue, but sometimes, they just can't stop themselves. Jehova's Witnesses will always try to convert and that can stir up some pretty nasty fights. I am an Athiest. I try not to argue, but when homosexual marriage comes up, I black out. Sometimes, I have no control over what I say. Christians are good people except for the banning of gay marriage and the arguing.

Don't know what you are talking about Hun, I'm a Christian, and i know I'm right, you must have had a run in with some other Bible thumpers.

I just wish we could all get along on here, accept each other, for our differences. Stop bashing each other, so you believe something different, that's your prerogative. Stop pushing each others buttons, its immature, its ridiculous.

Well, there is the small problem that its based on a distortion of history... you know... a "myth". Being on the side of goodness is a good thing, but there are plenty of good people out there that aren't Christians too. Want to believe in Christianity? - that's your business. Telling anybody else they have to believe it or they won't be saved and we WILL "throw it back in your face." and we will use archaeology and reason to rip your myth to pieces. If you need Christianity to get you through your life that's OK, but the rest of us are pretty disgusted with being told what to think.

The real problem with being a christian or any other religion is the fact that you are having problems with the fact that we are all going to die someday. People the meaning of life is merely procreation. It drives all living creatures and organisms. People learn as much as you can to prolong the existence of your line. There is a very distinct line between right and wrong make the right decision and if you don't then learn from the wrong ones. Life is too short to be bothered by guidelines. Enjoy yourselves, whatever it takes.
