What you're feeling are contractions. If you're getting a lot of them, go to the hospital immediately. If they determine you're in labor, they'll give you something to try to postpone your contractions since you're a week too early. If you don't go to the hospital soon enough and you are in labor, then they might not be able to stop it, and your baby may be born too early and have underdeveloped lungs. But, if they can't stop it, he should still be old enough to survive outside the womb with very little medical intervention, so don't sweat it too much. But still, if the hardening of the tummy is happening around every five minutes, then definately get to the hospital now. If it's only happening a couple times an hour, it's probably Braxton Hicks contractions and nothing to worry about. But better to be safe than sorry if you're having major cramps. I'm 37 weeks along now, and I've had several false alarms in the last week. My doctor even told me she can't believe I'm still pregnant. If the contractions are far apart and you don't think you need to go to the hospital, try drinking a lot of water and lay on your side and it might ease/slow them, but call your nurse about those cramps, anyway.

Braxton Hicks contractions do this. They are the false contractions that many pregnant women get, but I never felt them, so I can't really advise about it. But, you are concerned about what is going on, so RING YOUR MATERNITY DEPARTMENT. Only by doing this can you get the answers YOU need for YOUR situation.
I wish you all the best for the future, and especially for the birth. Remember, in comparison to your whole entire life, it''s just a few hours of pain- the most wonderful pain you'll ever experience.
Good luck!

Yes its sounds like the real thing or braxton hicks. When i moved to Aus I was also pregnant and I found all of it really stressful. I kept getting these tightening all the time due to stress, I suggest you keep a watch out for your waters breaking and also for the mucus plug. Try to be relaxed as what you think will also effect your hormones. I actually went in to prem labour and delivered a boy 12 weeks early. It sounds like you , being at 36 weeks your baby has a fantastic chance of recovery when she he is born. Congrats in advance..

Start timing between your stomach getting tight. They could be real contractions. I would go get checked out if I were having them 10 min apart. I just went through alot of pre term labor and it always made me feel better to get checked out, especially since I was in labor all 3 times I went. Better safe than sorry.

thats perfectly normal. Your having braxtin hicks. Every woman has them but some more than others. I was 2cm dialated several weeks before i had mine so depends on the baby when he/she wants to come out. Good luck! :)

You're probably just having broxton hicks contractions. The pains are probably your baby either laying on something or just normal aches and pains...Call your doc if it gets too bad just to be safe

call your doctor and describe your symptoms...you may be in early labour....don't worry about asking a doc....that is their JOB.

also the hardening is called braxton hicks--practise labour pains...some people get them at 22 weeks onward...you probably did but did not notice them.

the pain you feel down your leg is sciattica...its common during pregnancy..i had it too...it hurts.

call your doctor just to be safe....

If they are constantly 10 minutes apart, call your doctor... see what they want you to do..

... if they are 5 or less minutes apart, get to the hospital or you will be delivering your baby in your living room (and dont drive yourself to the hospital of course.......)
