When I say "I'll think about it" I mean exactly that. I need time to go over all the information I have before I make a decision.
If you continue to ask (nag), then of course my answer is going to be no.
If you present your request properly, with facts and no whining or comparisons with your peers, you stand a better chance of hearing the answer you want.
If I hear "that's not fair" then the answer is no.
Learning to negotiate is important. Practice and work on your presentation. Leave the diva drama out as well as the begging.
Then when you ask and I answer "I'll see" or "I'll think about it," you know I AM considering what you want.

Just what they said"I'll think about it". It's only been 10 min. ago. Now, if one had said "go ask your mother" and then your Mom waits a fe seconds and says "go ask your Dad" and this keeps up for as long as they are in separate places and your running back and forth ,well then ,ya got to wait till both are in the same room together to pin them down.So when both are together watching TV wait till the show is over and then ask"Well have you thought about it Dear Sweet Mom and Dad"? DON'T BE PUSHY IF THEY SAY NOT YET,cause if you push the issue they will automatically say "NO"

If it's me, it means I've got a lot on my mind right now and I don't have the time or will power to process a question with potentially serious implications, OR I know the answer is not what you want to hear and I don't have the time or the will power for a debate right now.

When my parents usually say this ot means yes but then they try to tell me for as long as humanly possible that they havent decided yet and if I don't do (insert random thing your parents ask you to do) they'll stop thinking about it which is super annoying. However I agree with the other comments, if you're pushing too hard and saying it's not fair they will say no anyway.

Usually it means "no", but some parents require more time to make a decision about things in your life.

You have a 50% chance of getting a yes--or vice-versa.
When I say "I'll think about it"....it means that I really want to say "No" but I'm going to let a little time pass to see whether or not it's worth changing my mind.
My advice? Whenever you get an "I'll think about it" from your parents.....you'd better be on your best behavior until they get back to ya ;)

Generally it means no, don't harrass them about it, give it a week or so, if you don't have an answer ask again. But speaking from experience, the more you ask, the more likely it is they will end up saying no!!

It means, "I will think about it." Maybe, yes Maybe, no. I will weigh the options in my mind and consider what else is going on at the time...the costs, the time, etc. I will think about it. Now, don't ask me again or the answer is "NO!"

It usually means no, but if your parents are one of those honest people in the world, you could take it literally
