My sister is having a birthday party, and she wants to have a paint balloon fight. We bought some small balloons, but what kind of paint should we fill the balloons with and where can I find it.

I've played paint ball war which is an adult game played with paint balls (sold at specialty stores) and an air powered gun. It's not for children.

I never heard of paint balloon, so had to look it up. Apparently, someone has done it before but you probably don't want something this elaborate:

How about using washable finger paint? About $20 for a gallon jar and comes in several colors:

That's the easy part. The hard part will be clean up.

whoa! do the parent's of the kids coming know what you're planning? what about your folks? This sounds like a fantastic way to destroy furniture, clothes and trash the place unless you have a huge yard.

That said you need a water based paint to have any hope at all of it washing out or off. So something like acrylics would be good, maybe a small amount of paint added to a water fileld balloon? Stay away from red based colors (pink, orange, red, brown) since red pigment is far more likely to stain. This goes with any type of paint or dye. Red is far more likely to cause problems than any other color.

If the balloons hit anything important be sure to clean up with soap and water *right away* don't let it dry.

Probably just your everyday standard washable paint, and you can get good deals on it at Michaels.
