I heard there's going to be a bug that will mess up most of the computers, and what will happen to us humans?

And here is the problem --- If you reset your clock to 2039 right now, your computer won't work if it is 32 bit machine. Because it will think the date is 1970. And your software will not work because its timestamp won't be current - programs on your computer have a timestamp set to the year they were released. eg Widows 95 released in 1995. Back before year 2000, that is what people did. As an experiment, ... They set their clock to Dec 31 1999 and then discovered the comp wouldn't work when the date became Jan 1 2000. But two things happened that fixed the problem. 1) New computers from about 1995 onwards stored dates as 4 digits, not just 2. 2) A simple program was written for those comps still using a 2 digit system. This was executed when the time was Dec 31, 1999. That (or something similar) is going to happen in 2038 as well but we have a much longer lead time. There are already many 64 bit computers in use. There wont, be many by 2038. And note ... The computers on board Voyager 1 and 2 did NOT crash on year 2000. - Because the fix was applied.

I will turn 70.

Before the year 2038, The United States will go bankrupt and will become a nation under "The New World Order"

Money will be replaced by a computer chip which will either be in your hand or your forehead.

Freedom will be nonexistant, and there will be worldwide chaos the likes of which this world has never seen to date!

That is just a supersitus myth that people pass around to scare people into not getting a computer before then. I do not believe that there will be a virus or "bug" as you put it that will mess up computers. It is supposed to say that there will be nuclear holacuast and the so called "bug" will tell all the nations' around the world to launch all of there nuclear misslies at once and have random destitons and kill all but a few humans.

No. There's no reason why computers should have any problem with the year 2038.

Besides, that's 32 years away. PLENTY of time to fix the problem if there was one.

Some of us still have books and can cope without. We are not mean so won't charge the earth to help out. I would be careful what you say, the CIA may be at your door. I have not heard this. Failing that you will be done for wasting police time. Grow up and take up a hobby. Use your brain
