This was recently discussed in my psychology class. This is a theory that young girls develop eating disorders because, for some reason, they do not wish to become pregnant. I found this idea puzzling. Any thoughts?

That doesn't make sense to me. I think something got misinterpreted somewhere. Young girls develop eating disorder because they don't want to become fat! I see no relation between eating disorders and pregnancy.

Young girls are so programmed by the media that skinny is the only acceptable body type. I have heard mature women say the same thing. It is sad, I think, because it diminishes the joy of pregnancy. I loved being pregnant, I would not change a thing.

cud be true a fear of growing up. I used to starve my self when I was younger (About 11-14)and then later went on to make my self sick for a while becuase I couldnt stand the thought of getting an adult body. I even hid the fact I was menstruating for about 2 yrs not even telling my mum or anything.Thank God I dont do it now.....its to do with fear of growing up I think and a fear of being a woman if you dont see that as a respected and vauled role......if your parents made you feel small and useless for being a girl which my Dad unwittingly did. I am 21 now and onyl just learning to accept my femininity.

That confused me. Really bad. So girls actually think getting fat makes them pregnant ?? Umm.. ok.. more like getting pregnant makes women fat. That's good weight control motivation tho .. if people really think that.
