Yes, it can denote that. Venus governs the need for love and affection. Mars governs energy, sexual needs and desire.

If you are female, you may want to look to the sign, house position and aspects to your Sun and Mars to see what type of mate you are attracted to. All your planets really need looked at though.

You can also look to your 7th house (face-to-face partnerships), it's ruler and ruler's placement, and any planets in the 7th house for further indications.

You can also look to your 1st house (your personality, appearance and physical body) it's ruler and ruler's placement, and any planets in the 1st house for further indications.

You can also look to your 5th house (love affairs and romance), it's ruler and ruler's placement, and any planets in the 5th house for further indications.

You can also look to your 8th house (sex), it's ruler and ruler's placement, and any planets in the 8th house for further indications.

There are no hard and fast rules as to what sign you'll will attract because any, some, and all of these areas may be activated in your chart by their natal chart (synastry). You always should look at your whole chart and their whole chart to see why you are attracted to someone else.

Here are some examples of how to look for an affinities in synastry. You didn't specify house placements for Venus and Mars, so I'm using the 3rd house as an example.

Your Venus is in Aries = Venus in the 1st house = Venus and Mars aspect = Mars in the 2nd or 7th houses = Mars in Taurus or Libra

Your Venus is in the 3rd house = Venus in Gemini = Venus and Mercury aspect = Mercury in Taurus or Libra = Mercury in the 2nd or 7th houses

Your Mars is in Aries = in dignity, in it's own domicle or sign of rulership

Your Mars is in the 3rd house = Mars in Gemini = Mars and Mercury aspect = Mercury in Aries = Mercury in the 1st house

Aries is the worst place for Venus and the same Aries is best and own place for Mars. So the problem from Venus will be there however find out the position of Saturn and Jupiter if they are well placed then the negative results of Venus will be nullified.
