A journal is similar to a diary. A journal is generally considered to be more fact based, telling an account in chronological order with an impartial tone. Diaries are considered to be more of a personal account of emotional events. A journal is generally written with the idea that it will be read by many others. Just the opposite for a diary.

A journal is where you can write your most private thoughts of feeling, or you could use the journal for like english classes where they want you to write about a topic that the teachers may suggest.
