my icon doesn't work at all. i have a shortcut on my desktop , it doesn't work either. i go into my programs directory, it doesn't work either.

Try rebooting your computer first, if that doesn't work then reinstall the messenger software..
I would uninstall the current version first, thru add/remove programs, reboot, then get a fresh version of the program here:
http://messenger.yahoo.com/
once you complete the reinstall, you should be fine.. If you still have issues then there are other problems with your system, contact Yahoo support....

you can either try using the yahoo web messenger,or downloading and running it through a multi-instant messanger client such as GAIM or Trillian. Those usually work beautifuly. Or you can just try redownloading it.

Try e-mailing yahoo, maybe there is something wrong with your yahoo. Maybe they can help you. Or make sure your yahoo password and username is correct. Or try changing the password.
