and suppose that's your relief from what you're experiencing in this life (and i'm not talkin' about suicide)

and please don't write how you can change certain things. i'm sorry but you can't. there are things you just can't change no matter how hard you try. you can fool others but not yourself.

thanks

It's not dumb. Lots of people believe it. Whatever gets you through the day, you know? If it keeps you from going postal, by all means, believe the afterlife will be better--I'm sure it will be.

Well it's not Dumb to think you'll be happy when you die if you are a true Christan when you leave this earth. Then you'll know that your reward for all this suffering and even your own death will all be worth something. You'll go to Heaven to be with God. This is a great thing to look forward to one day. I'm sure in no hurry to die though! In Fact I'm not looking forward to that at all. I want to stay around for as long as I can to be with my Family and my Kids and my Grand-baby. If I had my way about it, I would never die! So this is what Jesus Christ did for us. He shed his own blood for us so that through him , we can live forever! We can be forgiven for our sins that we have committed upon this earth and we can go to Heaven one day and be with God. But to just die and say oh I'm going to heaven today is wrong. We should live our lifes the best we can, no matter how hard it might be at times and when our time is up here on this earth, then God will bring us home.Only then will be be blessed. God Bless You!

There is nothing after death. No heaven or hell. People say their loved ones went to heaven after they die, but this is just a lie to make themselves feel better about their loss. After all, this lie is told to children above all others. Christianity uses the punishment / reward scenario of an afterlife just as a tool to control people's behavior. Some people are just plain selfish, and sometimes it takes such a belief system to keep them in line. That's the theory. If you think about it, how many people really do act upon these beliefs? Criminals don't seem to act like their crimes will be punished by eternal damnation. Despite what people may say, very few people really believe in the after life nonsense.

I think it is one of the very *least* dumb things you can think!

I'm sure by the time i write this, many others will have made, more or less, the same point. Nonetheless, in the Bible (NIV), John 14:2, Jesus is quoted as saying "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house there are many rooms; it if were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." Interestingly, if you look back in the Old Testament God said "I am that I am." So, in that light, Jesus is taking us to God to that place prepared especially for each of us, the Believers; the Body of Christ.

In my humble opinion, Jesus isn't speaking about literal rooms in one giant literal house ~ but rather a special place for you .. one for me ... one for each of those who believe in Him ~ i believe that what He has prepared for each of us will be what we believe in our deepest heart is perfection of happiness.

For some, it may be gates of pearl and streets of gold if that is their heartfelt belief that this is what Heaven is; for others, it might be a beautiful place they've always wished or dreamed for; for some, perhaps a reunion of all those they love who have gone on before them.

This promise was given to you, to each of us, not only that He will never forsake us, but to grant us peace that we might know there is MORE and that "more" is more than worth anything we might endure here.

But, again, no, you are not at all dumb to believe in a promise Jesus made. It was made to us to give us relief, in a sense. To know that there is much, much more in store for us than just our life here on Earth.

You keep believing in that Promise given to you.

And, please don't be offended, but to address the part you wrote about being unable to change some things: you're right that there are some thing we cannot change. We cannot change a physical challenge we were born with or obtained through an accident; we cannot change the reality that we have had a loved one to die; there are many things we cannot change; but, one thing we CAN change is our attitude and our outlook about our situation.

It's never so bleak as it seems, especially when we believe in Jesus' Promise to us.

not dumb , just confused ,dont you know ,we are all going to hell. so , look at your time here on earth suffer as school and training for hell . If you do well here and learn all that it taught ,you will do just fine burnning in hell for ever and ever. that is unless GOD forgives your soul . from what the good book says he will only take a few .
let GODs will be done on earth as in heaven . so maybe this heaven already or is it GOD tring to make hell a better place to live or die at the end of days.
there for you are in hell or one of "Dante's levels of hell "........

no, it is fine to think once you die you'll be happy. that does offer relief from what you're experiencing.

"everything is as it should be." let go of your earthly needs. control is an illusion. your heart and soul manifest in your earthbound conditions.

why is that dumb. keeps me from randomly killing and pillaging and just taking what i want. whats to stop me? other humans hahaha no matter what havoc i cause and how much pain i release apon the world there is only one death for me if there is no afterlife so good or evil i will die just once so why not just do everything i want and not care what you or anyone else thinks.

well, if you really die, like when everything really ends when you die, meaning there isn't an afterlife, then, you won't feel anything when you're dead. Not even peace. Because, then, your brain would be dead too.
