Remember our body is a small ground as well as small power source. If the live wire voltage is high enough 230V or 440 V small current can flow into our body. But current is different on individual.
Our body can accumulate electric charge without knowing. That's why we sould not touch static sensitive electronic device or circuit board. We might damage them accidentally.
Hope this will help.

In AC Circuit, we need one live and one neutral to complete the circuit.. and of course with a load (could be a resistor) on it.

Now, your body act as a resistor and you are holding a live. Your leg is grounded and touching the earth (which the earth act like a neutral).

You are now indirectly has completed the circuit, and hence it is now you got shock.

Because there is a votage in a "live wire" and because your body is a conducter of electricity, a current is produced through your body, which activates the nerves in your body.
