I HAVE to close and I loose what I was working on. I always "send a report",as prompted, to Microsoft but no fix is ever offered back. ????

did you ever open the report that you sent? it offers details about the error
here is one error report i just found for you

Every time I start my computer I have a pop us that says:
SetConfig Application has encountered a problem and needs to close.
We are sorry for any inconvenience.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem.
You can open an error report -
so i did- and it says:conflict with
c:\ docume~1 \ owner \ locals~1temp \ werbo.tmp.dir001 \ appcompat.txt

IF YOU can find what the conflict is then you will be able to fix it
example using the above error of werbo.tmp...

To find out what application is causing this, click on start, find. Type in werbo. When you get a list of files, right click on one of the files and select properties. See what company distributed the files. When you can determine the company it should help you to figure out which software you installed that has problems. Uninstall/Reinstall that software.

I cant tell you what is causing that error, but I can tell you that you will never reveive a response from sending an error report to Microsoft.
