Why Is Our Heritage Important

Why is heritage important? For the values it represents - your values - and for the increasingly important role it's playing in the development of communities. Heritage is important for a number of reasons. For example, each community's heritage is distinctive, and can help instill a sense of community identity and resident pride in their community. It promotes a sense of continuity for residents, an understanding of where we have been and how we got here today.

I think Heritage gives us a sense of self. It helps us understand our family, and all the things that we have done for history. For instance , my grandfather fought in WWII. I can feel proud knowing that he had such an undertaking in our nations history. Further back then that, I had English relatives who came over on the Mayflower who brought traditions that are still practiced. My mothers Irish side gives me reason for freckles and red-toned hair. We are nothing without our heritage. Heritage is important because it is who we are.

Heritage is important because it's what you and your family are!
It's basically all about you and them...and explains yourself to others alot better!Your heritage is 100% all about you,and where you came from! I mean all of us and or family's come along from some country or another and wherever it is it sure is a very unique and special place.Weather your Mexican,Romanian,Polish,Chinese,it doesn't matter because you are what you are.and no matter what nobody can take any of that away from you.

Heritage is important because it helps determine who you are. I know a lot of people are not proud of their race ect... but it should not be that way. We should be always proud of who we are and where we come from.

Your heritage helps to explain your history. Know your history and avoid making the same mistakes over and over again.

Simple isn't it?

Two main influences determine who we are and who we are likely to become: Heredity and Environment. Those with different heredity will react differently to environmental influence. Knowing about your ancestors can also boost your self-esteem. A self-assured, confident, person is more likely to suceed in life. Knowing my ancestry includes Robert E. Lee and Queen Anne (of England) has always made me feel better.
