I have the majority of my paper on Herman Melville and passive resistance written, I just need help forming the introduction. Any tips? Let's just reiterate that I am terrible at English always have been. (I'm just using the story "Bartleby the Scrivener") I still have to find quotes from critics though. Oh, it's a critical analysis.

The best way to write an intro. to any paper is use a catchy 1 or 2 sentence opening. I sometimes use a quote or something funny to catch the reader's attention. Then just review your paper maybe even jot down an outline and state something to the fact that "the author of this paper will review/discuss/analyze the topic a, topic b, topic c. Helps with the conclusion too. I usually use the intro and reword it for the conclusion.

Consider:

"Passive resistence is nothing new except for those not understanding the ramifications it has in relationships, whether they be in the home, school, or on the job. This is a subtle response as a reaction to unsavory or uncomplimentary tasks, comments, or opinions.

"Passive resistence, often disguised under ingratiating, knee-jerk reactions, can be irritating. It can also pose greater problems in our society today. Allow me to explain."

Not sure exactly your mode of delivery or definite topic you wish to discuss, the introduction above can be modified to suit your presentation.
