I've been told it's a mixture of alcohol and water. I've also been told that is how hospitals sterilize their rooms. Now, I usually clean with bleach. Which is best?

Both work well as a disinfectant and probably neither is better than the other - just different. If you want to get more environmentally friendly, use white vinegar. It is a little known fact that vinegar is a disinfectant and kills bacteria, germs, and mold.

I use denatured alcohol mixed 50-50 with water in a spray bottle to wash windows, mirrors, TV Screens, etc. It works better than Windex or any other like product. Doesn't leave streaks or film.

After I clean my counters and ceramic top stove with a liquid cleaning product, I spray the stove and counters with the alcohol and wipe dry. Cuts the soap film and make everything shiny.

You can find denatured alcohol in the paint department of hardware stores or Wal-Mart for that matter.

I swear by it!

When I was a nanny, the lady I worked for kept rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle and sprayed it on the counter, stove, microwave, etc to clean the surfaces. It worked great. Didn't smell to great, but bleach would smell worse. I wouldn't feel too safe cleaning with bleach because it's so potent and it would lighten everything.

If it is rubbing alcohol a lot of places here in the states uses it too.
I used to work at a resturaunt, we used it to clean tables and counters. I would prefer alcohol because bleach can wipe away the color of the surface you are cleaning. (if it already white I use bleach)

Both work well. At home I clean with bleach because I like the way it whitens and gets rid of stains. At work we wipe down our keyboards and phones with alcohol to kill germs.
