Phone your pharmacist. There are natural cold medicines that are safe to use in pregnancy available in the herbal section of most pharmacies.
I tend to always get a good cold with each pregnancy. I like to have lots of hot lemon tea with honey, a vapour rub with lots of menthol and camphor to rub on my chest, a hot bath with some eucalyptus oil, vitamin C, echinacea and lots of clear fluids.
Any of these items can be picked up at your pharmacy where you can get safe advice from a professional.
In regards to work, stay home. Your body is working hard to prepare an environment for your baby and get well all at the same time. Without proper rest you won't shake this and the result could be something much more serious that requires an even lengthier stay off work.

Believe it or not, the best is to use a saline nasal mist every 30-60 minutes--just snort it up your nose & let it roll back into your lower throat. (e.g. "simply saline" which is just salt water & no preservatives in a canister). It flushes away the nasty acidic secretions there behing your tongue & down the throat, so your throat is less swollen & irritated.
Sometimes one or 2 days of a nasal spray decongestant or oral decongestant can help; it's variable, & remember they are sort of stimulating & may keep you awake.
Keep your fluid intake high, especially things with minerals like soup! It helps thin out your mucous so it rolls away easier. Also helps the immune things get into the mucous better.
And sleep--your immune system fights off the viruses, and all the wakeful activity is taking away energy from your immune system.
And time! Some times we just have to suffer through it.

Good luck

I would pop in and see a pharmacist or call them. They will be able to help you. Try some Ginger Ale for your sore throat in the mean time. Ginger Ale does not have any caffeine in it so it is safe. Maybe some weak tea might help too.

you don't have to see your doctor, give the office a call and one of the nurses on staff will be able to tell you.
