Hi Aquas
If it is working fine in safemode then it is something that is starting up.
To see what is running you can do this in safe mode or normal mode
click on start then run type in msconfig then click on the starup tab
the only thing that should be checked is system try and 2 instances of load power profile
uncheck everything else then reboot if everything is running fine good then you are done
if your still having problems it is a trojan that is replicating itself download hijackthis
and do a scan checkmark anything that looks suspicious click fix then click on
config /misc tools / open process manager to see what is running
you can also kill running programs with hijackthis
you can get and read about hijackthis at http://www.merijn.org/programs.php
Hope this helped

Not much information to go on.... how long did it run in safe mode... did it make it past ten minutes? If so it most likely isn't a heat issue but something that is being loaded during start up that is causing problems. Disconnect your computer from the internet and go Start>Run and type msconfig and hit enter. Click on the start up tab and uncheck everything except your antivirus and firewall programs. Restart the computer and upgrade your antivirus software.
Download an antispyware program like spybot http://www.spybot.com and run that. you may have a trojan that is locking your system up. good luck.

Could be hardware or a virus.
Hardware suspects-Power Supply, CPU and/or CPU fan, Hard drive. Since you run ok in Safe Mode, Gotta think software:
Could be Windows, a System restore or re-install corrects this. OR
Most likely:
Spy-ware, etc: Ewido.com, ad-aware (www.lavasoft.com), spybot search and destroy (www.security.kolla.de)
Depending on your anti-virus, there are two free ones that are superior: www.grisoft.com has AVG, and www.free-av.com has avira anti-vir. You can only run ONE anti virus at a time, but can run multiple spywares. Download and install these programs, and boot your computer to safe mode (hit f8 on a re-start BEFORE windows comes up). Run them from safe mode. Good luck.

The fact that it works in safe mode suggests it may have something to do with drivers or software that starts automatically with Windows. While in safe mode, try removing any recently installed drivers and software. If that doesn't work, as a last resort you could simply format your computer and reinstall Windows from scratch.

You may need to Format. It will wipe you computer clean so make sure you have your copy of Windows handy before doing it. Here is how to format
1. Double-click the My Computer icon.
2. Single-click the second drive icon to select it.
3. Open the File menu and select Format. The format window displays the hard disk capacity.
4. Select Format type and enter a disk label. If you want to start up (boot) from the second drive, check the "Copy system files" box.
5. Click Start. Windows displays a warning box. Read the warning, and then click OK to begin formatting.
Warnings:
The format procedure deletes all files on the hard disk. This action is not reversible. Be sure to back up any files you want to keep.
DOS - C Drive
Steps:
1. If you are formatting the C drive, you need to boot from a floppy disk and use DOS to format the C drive. Start the computer using a startup floppy disk (see "How to Create a Startup Floppy Disk").
2. . The screen should show the A:\ prompt.
3. Type CD C: to switch to the C drive.
4. Type "FORMAT C: \S \V". This command formats the hard disk, transfers the appropriate system files to make it a startup disk, and prompts you for a new name. The "\V" command is optional.
5. Enter the new disk name.
6. Eject the floppy disk and restart the computer. The hard disk is ready to receive files.
Warnings:
The format procedure deletes all files on the hard disk. This action is not reversible. Be sure to back up any files you want to keep.
Tips
Check out the CD drive by eHow Friend
Make sure you can access your CD-ROM drive with your boot disk. Otherwise, if the operating system you want to install is on a CD, you are out of luck.
Most hard drive manufactures have free download programs to format their hard drives. The programs have to be unzipped and copied to a floppy. They have a better user interface than a DOS prompt and are easier to use. They also have extra options that are necessary to access the full capacity of large hard drives (above 137 gigabytes) when using WIN95, WIN98 and maybe WIN ME.

You probably have too much crap on it. Uninstall all of the programs you don't use, download a spyware remover. If all else fails, format the computer and reinstall your operating system.

Ok, did you try a system restore too? Have you eliminated your spyware/adware? Memory is used up?
