Fahrenheit 451 stands for the temperature that paper ignites and burns on its own. If it does ignite and burn then the world will be to hot for any of us to live in.

Probably because he had mean parents that didn't let him have any fun, and he's a crank old coot!
I think he really desired to read and learn, but the pressure of the laws and society kept him from doing so.
