There are many different theories on this but the vast majority of doctors believe fetuses can begin to feel pain at about 8 weeks. So if you abort there is the possibility the baby will feel it.

I don't know. I guess that's more a matter of degree of pain recognition, stage of development and what the procedure involves. Short of asking one, I guess the only way to get close to the truth is to determine the extent that the central nervous system and the brain are developed and whether or not they are coordinating with each other yet. Then you have to know what happened during the abortion. If he just got suctioned out and was completely intact when that happened, then I doubt the procedure itself would be painful, but possibly cold or uncomfortable, so then the question is not whether the abortion hurt, but whether the function of dying hurt.
Cells themselves can feel pain, this we know. Life on many levels seem to mimick if not actually experience pain. I once heard of a study years ago where they took a bunch of roses and hooked tiny, ultra sensitive microphones to them. All the plants made the same humming, sort of a white-noise. Then they had a researcher enter the room and stomp one plant into the ground until it was dead. All the plants seemed to start screaming. The researcher left, and they returned to their previous hum. Another researcher entered the room, and they didn't change noises, but when the first researcher came back, they started screaming again. Plants obviously don't have brains or nervous systems like we do, so do they have another mechanism to feel pain and to communicate that with each other, or is it some sort of chemical reaction? Do insects hurt when you step on them, or do they die so fast they don't feel anything. If you jumped off a building and died on impact, would you feel any pain in that split second you hit the ground, or ultimately, would it even matter after the fact? We can speculate, we can calculate certain factors, but in the end, until it happens to you, you'll never really know.

I could be wrong but it sounds like you are trying to make one of the most important decisions that you are ever going to make..
Please don't base that choice on weather your unborn child feels pain.
If you don't want your baby there are a lot of good family's that would love to care for it and raise it.
And then on the other hand having it and not being able to give it up and maybe not being able to care for the child the way a child needs to be cared for is causing more pain then 5 mintues worth.. Think about that.
And really i don't think that any one can know exactly what a embreo is feeling however if you find that you are more than 8-12 weeks that child now has a heart beat. there for i would say yes this child would feel that pain..

they don't develop the sense of pain until 24 weeks of pregnancy. no doc. will perform an abortion at that stage. if you decide to get an abortion make sure you get counseling after. i had a hard time after. its not murder. its not even viable til 28 weeks. don't listen to the right to lifers. they are not the ones having the baby and they are not the ones who have t o pay for it for the next 18 years

That is really sad to think about but I am sure that they feel something. I guess it depends on how far along you are for the baby to feel anything. I'm not to sure when this happens but I guess as soon as the baby develops nerves they can feel things. I am not an expert so don't quote me or anything.

Most don't have enough of a nervous system to feel anything. The others aren't capable of interpreting sensations to make feelings.

They do, depending on how far along they are. In other words, if they're old enough and their nervous systems are developed, then yes, they'll feel it. When this happens, I don't rightly know.
