Yes it is after the scientist in the film Barbarella and the reason they chose it was because they used to play in a club in Birmingham UK called... Barbarellas

Yes, they got there name from the movie Barbarella. Duran Duran was one of the charecters name in it. (No George Michael was not in Duran Duran, he was in Wham)

I know it was originally Duran Duran Duran but they shortened it.

well i grew up in the 80's and i know it had George Michael (that weird singer) lol
but i think Duran might have been the name of one of them but not sure.
