I have been surfing the net tonight and yes i admit i was surfing adult sites!! but i came across a site that was disgusting. It had kids on, can I report it anywhere and what worry's me also is will my computer now have a trace of the website on it, I was on firefox an I have deleted all private data, but i dont want that sick disgusting website to have embedded itself on my computer. I really feel i should report the site, but do not know where to.

I also want to know, now that my computer accessed the site, could i get pop ups without my say so about the site and if so what can I do about it. It was about 30 minutes ago and I haven't had any yet.

But obviously I am concerned I could be accused of downloading the filth when it was purely accidental

Please help!!!

I have nothing to hide by using my real name, but I see what u mean, i was only on the site for a few seconds, so I hope I can forget about it an stop worrying.

But it just annoy's me that we can put a man on the moon and send a craft to Mars but we can not get rid of child porn on the internet, Why??

The link I started from was Google and I think they should stop the sick, pervetted sites from having anything to do with them, surely they could employ someone to watch what they transmitt??

If you cleared your Firefox browsing history, its gone. It'll be overwritten next time you use your pc. Many people stumble across stuff they don't like - its if you have gigabytes of the stuff stored in a folder that you've got a problem.
I know there are addresses where you can report this kind of thing if you stumble across it, I'll see if I can find any of them. You could search for the computer crimes unit or the met . Just e-mail them the url (web address).
Improve your pc security. Its easier to prevent malware getting on to your system in the first place rather than trying to remove it.
If you do get any pop ups, install Avast! anti virus and Ewido anti trojan, then switch off System Restore and scan in Safe Mode.
Then run Ccleaner. That should delete any traces.
And if you're still concerned then defragment your hard drive.

The Windows firewall doesn't stop malware on your pc from dialling out. Either of these firewalls are free for personal use and stop unwanted incoming and outgoing traffic. You choose which programs are allowed to access the internet. They are both fairly easy to use and updated regularly.

It is best to contact the police you can do it annonamously and give them the adress of the site as long as there is only a record of you having been on it once you will not get in trouble as you are reporting it but you are right you should.
If you recive pop ups before closin them read what it says on the top blue bar it should have a product name then close the box and go in to start, control panel then add/remove programs and look for the name on the blue panel if that doesnt come up in your list write any odd souning ones on here and i shall tell you which one to delete.
dont panic just let the police know so they can shut the site down.

Your best bet would probably be to report it to the Police. They will be able to pass the information on to wherever it needs to go.

As for the site leaving traces on your computer, yes, it probably has. Your computer stores many things about the websites you go to such as images. Clearing the data has probably gotten rid of most of it though. As for being accused of anything, I wouldn't worry about that. Law enforcement agencies have ways of finding out what you have been up to on the websites you visit. If you're logged as being on the site looking at multiple images, start worrying. If you were only on it for a few seconds before closing it in horror, dont worry. Beside, why would you be reporting it to them if you were interested in that crap?

the best thing to do is tell the police or go to www.iwf.org.uk but do it anonymously unfortunately everything you do is recorded and you could even get e mails about the same ort of things all i can suggest is be very care full in the future then the Internet police will only act on high usage of these sort of sites an the chances are they all ready know about the site all ready hope this helps

depends....was it actually child porn? i came across a discussion like this a few years ago on a forum, somebody gave a link to what he thought could be child porn but was actually not, and perfectly legal. having 9 year olds posing provokatively in swimsuits is, sadly, legal. you have to bear in mind too that a lot of web sites say the girls are younger than they really are e.g. 15 year old high school girl gets banged by football team. the girl is always over 18 in cases like this. but if you think you've come across genuine child pornography then don't hesitate to report it

Report it to the police - they need people like you, who come across these sites by accident, to report them so that they can shut them down and try to catch the people running them.

You have no need to worry, even if they suspect that you are lying if they look in your computer they will see that you are telling the truth. But report it as soon as possible or you will look suspicious.

You wont be accused of anything if it is only the once. The people that get arrested have tons of stuff on their machines, make repeated visits to these sites and actually PAY for it with their own credit cards! Not only are they nasty nonces, they are also morons (same thing I suppose).

Just call your local police station and report it...... to be honest.. you can never wipe anything off your PC for good unless you really know what you are doing....

your local police station will escalate it to a special division... perhaps take extra care next time when surfing for content.

yes it will be on your computer and you can block pop-ups and would do so if I were you. The only way to remove all traces from your puter is to buy a new motherboard and destroy the old one, As to where to report such a site I can only suggest the police
