I need to write a paper on how I've used language for the following: to inform, convince, explore, make decisions, and pray or meditate. I am having trouble getting started. I can probably come up with something for inform, convince and pray, but how the heck does one use language to explore and make decisions? Can anyone give me any ideas on those? PLEASE!!!!

You use language to "explore" by asking questions. You use language to make decisions by either listing the pros and cons of a proposed course of action, or by questioning the answers to your questions. The latter will draw out the answerer's rationale, which you may accept or reject. The whole process is an exercise in "critical thinking".

Hope this helps.

You can use language to describe two or three options and the advantages and time and effort needed . You can also construct outlines of the different possibilities; some times the best path becomes obvious.
You can use language to read, for background knowledge before leaving to explore; or use language to find some-one who has been there or near to where you intend to go, and use listening (also a language skill) and verbal organisation to remember what they say.
Good Luck.

You explore by asking questions, then you make decisions based upon the answers to the questions. You asked a question - you have explored. Now decide to give me top answer and the ten points and you have an essay! lol

Well, with making decisions I have an idea. If you traveled around the world and needed to talk to people who mostly speak other languages (Chinese, Spanish, Indian), but didn't know them, English is a common language where you can talk to people. I think everyone should learn English. But, with that you'd have to decide whether or not to speak English with them.

This is a tough report. Sorry if my idea is stupid.

well if you have a problem and it is specific, then you can explore all the possiblities of the word to determine the most and best possible decision.

Your question explores how to get what you need.
The only thing left is your decision as to which answer you pick.
