I have now seven members to my group how do I get them to start posting with out begging them and sounding desperate.
I don't want to start by trying to persuade friends and family to join when they have no real interest in the group and will make it sound stupid.

What I found to be most helpful is creating polls where as the users are able to vote for any subject that you may find interesting.. Also you may want to have a contest for the top posters where as the names will be posted at the end of the week,month etc. Found these tools to help a lot to generate more posters. Hope this helps.

All you can do is make your group as interesting as possible. Try starting some discussions yourself, for example, asking for member opinions on a certain subject or issue. If it interests them, they'll post. If not, they wont... and you'll have to think of something else. Just dont expect too much at once. Seven members is not a large number. As membership grows, so will your group activity.
