Have you actually read Maxim? Maybe you should read it and have an idea what it's all about before getting a gift subscription for him.
It's basically a softer version of porn magazines - but ultimately, still objectifies women.

I'm sure he would like it but will you? Have you ever looked at a Maxim Magazine? Everyone is different but I would not... It's toned down a little under Playboy. Not something I would get for my boyfriend.

it depends, have you ever read a maxim magazine?
some peoples philosophy, belief system, understanding of human relationships, etc would find the treatment of women in maxim magazine to be sexist, and superficial
some people would not want their boyfriend receiving sexist propaganda that regulated women to sex object status
others people would find the maxim tone fun and sexy and would love to have their boyfriend looking at the semi-naked women and reading the "we are men" articles
you should read an issue or two and decide what you think

If this is a man you might like to marry than NO!!!! It gets real old seeing those magazines around the house just let him check all of the mags at the liquor store it's cheeper and he still gets to see the all the pictures he wants if he tells you its for the articles he's probably lying.

no not really maxim used to be a great magazine full of stuff to read and look at now its more than half ads so no really worth it in my opinion they have cool articles like how to hynotize a lobster and cool gadgets and how to dress and a whole bunch of stuff but no not really bad honestly.

It's actually a great gift idea! Your friend probably said that because she is insecure with herself and her relationship, if she has one. When girls say that stuff, it usually is a clue that they don't want their man even looking at pictures of other women! They think he might find something "better"
