What about "love" as the subject? You have "unconditional love" from your parents...AND from your dog...and the effects this love has had on you.

The reason I thought of that is because - when I was growing up - I had no pets and my mother never, EVER, showed any love for me. She never touched me in a loving way, she never called me any endearing names (though she would the young girls she worked with - in front of me), she never - not one time in her life - did she ever tell me she loved me. I can't think of anything that could have been more significant in my life than not knowing love.

Hopefully you have the unconditional love that many people don't have, and surely that would be of paramount significance.

Hope this has helped...even if you don't use it, perhaps it will trigger something else that you might use.

Well your house or apartment is very significant to you isn't it? Keeps the rain off and your clothes dry and you can fix food there and watch televison. or it can be the electricity that is significant to you or your computer, or your barbie dolls it does not matter as long as it does not draw breath and look around you in your room or living room,. what do you you use everyday? your blow dryer, your nailpolish, your school books, I would try to stay away from the makeup and stuff, teachers are not very impressed with what is important to you if you do.

How about the Internet and how it affects your life? Maybe interview one of your parents and see how things have changed due to the Internet since they were your age.

How about your family's car, and it's importance to your family. You could talk about how much you rely on it to help make life more comfortable.
