I am in charge of grocery shopping and I often keep a dollar or two (or five) and tell my wife we spent all of it. Then, come Christmas, I have some extra to shop with. We are on a really tight budget and this gives me a chance to do a little extra for my wife and kids. I feel kinda bad lying (or adjusting the truth) but it makes me feel good come the 25th. Any thoughts on this?

I think you're sweet, and your wife and kids are lucky to have you!
I don't see it as stealing, it's not like your hording all for yourself! And if you can put a little back now and then without it making your family go without for the everyday things in life that they need, then don't worry about it. You shouldn't feel guilty at all.

Well why not just take the 5 out of your pay check or get a part time job and then use the money you get there for christmas. But I give you credit for the thing your using the money for. At least its not for your own self or for drugs or somtin....

i put money in a jar all year, before thanksgiving, I cash in all my coins, which adds up to alot, then OH I KNOW it doesn't sound like much but my christmas club I joined years ago at ten dollars a week, really makes the season less stressfull for me, but it took me 5 years after being married to learn the plan, wish you luck and hope this helps for next year

I must admit to take pop bottles back to the store for the deposit money when I was little and then Mom and Dad would be SOL when they bought us more. I wanted to play Frogger okay??

No I don't. You shouldn't be lying to your wife though.
