In fact, on your birthday you are 1 year older! Imagine this: you were born on February 19th 1960. On February 20th of the same year you are 1 day older... and so on. So what you are "celebrating" is your "birthday anniversary" = "Anni" = "año" = "year". But of course you´re right... we don´t jump from one year to another... we get a second older at a time.. so fortunately, we don´t feel like getting older! And personally... I prefer to think I´m just one year older instead of realizing that in fact I´m starting
the seconds and minutes of another year! LOL
