Remember, the British used to be the major world power and the same comments could be made of that.
The American approach is to be very visible when you're a winner but make sure that you're never seen as a loser.
It's been said that the people who are least suited to lead the country are those who most want to.
There is so much spin out there in politics. If you think about it, the decisions are made by people more interested in how they look and their own personal future rather than what is the best rational move to make.
It's not Blair alone who does the deals, he is the figurehead who is subject to the politics of his party, not the will of the people. It's the same for all areas of politics - PM's, MP's, councillors, presidents etc. They are all in power because of the backing of their political parties.
So who backs the political parties? Who do governments consider first The People or Big Business?
In the end, business in one way or another dictates what happens within government. America is lead by business and that has a big impact on Britain so the British government is very careful about how it reacts to America.

As the saying goes, "it is better to be at the right hand of the Devil than in his path".
Britain and the US are allies, and there are times where allies help each other even when they disagree. Blair should have more back-bone and more balls to say "no" because he is far more intelligent than Bush (im not making that up, it is fact that Blair is highly intelligent and Bush about average intelligence). Blair has spoken out against issues like Camp X-Ray and openly disagreed with some issues, but probably not enough, but then again; the public will never know what goes on behind closed doors.
After all, the US will back up the British should we need it, probably whether they agree or not.
ADDITION: in addition to Dave's comment, it may interest you to know that the UK has the second largest debt in the world, second only to... yep, you guessed it... the US!

How many stereotypes in one question... the political landscape of both nations is wide and varied. Not all Brits or Americans feel the same way about either nation.
Ultimately, a nation will look after it's personal interests. As Britain is still predominantly a Euro sceptic country, it makes some sense to side with the States.
The U.S. managed to engineer the situation in which Britain now finds itself after World War 2. The Marshall aid plan provided 'recovery loans' to allies in the war, but not to Britain.. who probably spent the most and were fighting the war against Germany single handed for many years after all others had bowed out. Thus financially crippling the country.
As such Britain effectively lost it's political/economic power, it's Commonwealth and only recovered financially during the 80's.
Hence it is natural for us to side with a stronger ally such as the U.S.

I have got here across maximum British human beings to be quite well mannered and quite exciting. i'm an American, the son of a Scotsman, and if there change into ever a human beings to dislike the Brits, it would both be a Scot or an Irishman. transforming into up, I spent a minimum of quicker or later per week taking section in football with foreigners, because it change into no longer a nicely basic interest back then. the ameliorations in our cultures clarify a lot of how we alter into attentive to them as such, yet once you get to entice close the folk, you'll locate they're quite a exciting loving bunch and make as a lot exciting of themselves because the do others. it really is merely about a British comical cultural ingredient. They make exciting of each and every others' well-liked communities, a lot as we do, yet their variety of humor comes for the period of somewhat "off" through our criteria. So, merely attempt to understand our cultural ameliorations are what makes us see them because the "intense and strong, self-righteous assholes", (that and the actual undeniable reality that we beat them for our independence and many are nonetheless bitter about that.)

Blair is a puppet to Bush, for the time being anyway. The US doesn't consider the consequences, they look at it, think no probs we will win, and go ahead.
Veitnam is a perfect example of this, and they were mistaken. Just because they have more money to spend on tech they don't bother with tactics and they suffer more casulties.

I don't think they do listen to Americans. Blair like a gentleman has agreed to retire within a year. We won't impeach Bush because Cheney is standing on his heals. However, That is their tactic and they will not volunteer to go. They will stay to the last second and until the last penny.

I don't agree that Blair is a mini me of Bush at all. For a start he is not as stupid and has a higher IQ (not that its hard).
He just knows that its good to keep in the good books with a superpower because then at least you will know what they are up to.
america has helped situations becoming winning situations though, the northern ireland peace treaty and of course their part in WW2. Although there have been failures to like with all countries in war such as vietnaam. local knowledge of this area probably made all the difference.
you say that america takes the winners approach which i suppose is true in many circumstances. for example
america is number one in millionaires, number one in billionaires, number one in military spending, number one in firearms deaths, number one in per capita energy use, number one in Carbon dioxide emissions (more than Australia, Brazil,Canada, France, India, Indonesia, Germany, Italy, Mexico and the UK combined).
number one in hazardous waste produced. Number one in oil nd natural gas consumption.number one in international human rights treaties not signed.
I will get of my soap box now, and say winners at what cost.
I think the british view of the american approach has changed since bush junior came ino power. although clinton did many of the same things he didn't rub peoples faces in it.
eg under clinton America still had a war on terror but it was not broadcasted with such a 'bite me' attitude, that will get peoples backs up.
Lets just face it America is the country non Americans love to hate

I'm sure that would be an interesting point if you took the time to re-write it in English. Until then it appears to be little more than the incoherent mumblings of a drunk, in written form.
