I masturbate at times on my stomach too. I have never heard of Traumatic Masturbatory Syndrome in females it happens only in males. I'm fine, so will you don't worry about everything you hear about masturbation. There is so many bad things out there because most people arnt in touch with their sexuality. Last time I heard masturbation caused blindness and I can still see, trust me I would defiantly be blind if it did.

According to a link I found through WebMD.com, this is all a bunch of junk:

Masturbation is controversial again- it apparently helps you avoid cancer but it ruins your sex life. In July, Dr. Graham Giles, a researcher in Melbourne Australia, proclaimed that masturbation prevents prostate cancer. Research done by his group showed that men who had ejaculated daily during their twenties had one-third less incidence of prostate cancer in middle age. At the same, a number of websites have sprung up warning of the dangers of Traumatic Masturbation Syndrome. These sites, apparently constructed by TMS sufferers, maintain that men who masturbate while lying prone on their stomachs do permanent damage to their penises, with resultant inability to engage in insertive partner sex without pain. Sex researchers and sex education experts say there is no basis in fact for TMS. Wonder if the TMS people think they'll grow hair on the palms of their hands, too?

Hi, Doug. For me, TMS is real. (PERSONALLY speaking, so are a number of other issues regarding sex.) Although I too have as yet to find any confirmed "support" (corroboration with evidence, or study reports) of this condition and continue to research, I know that having masturbated 'in prime position' through much of my life has adversely effected me. The problem is not with the OPINIONS you're getting in response to your query, but with the focus and relevancy of the question itself. In reading all the answers so far, I question whether any of the respondants so far have anything BUT an OPINION. You first need to qualify. For example, "Do you masturbate in prone position (while lying face down) [yes or no]?" If 'yes', do you have difficulty with sexual intercourse [yes or no]? "If 'yes', are you familiar with TMS (Traumatic Masturbatory Syndrome) [yes or no]? THEN: "If 'yes', is TMS real, or a hoax [yes or no]? "As the cliche goes [more-or-less], "An opinion is like an anus; everybody has one". Don P.S. 'TMS' IS a legitimate abbreviation. Whoever is responsible for the spelling 'correction' popup needs to upgrade his/her information.

NO, but you are leaving yourself open to a horrible case of "terminal masturbatory syndrome".. if you do not stop it immediately, your risk death in approximately 50 years.. there is also the risk of a repetitive motion injury, which is not lethal, but will cause considerable pain in the future..

give yourself a hand, and stop it immediately..

That's absurd. People tend to be pretty skittish about sex, especially the less they know, so things like "TMS" get passed around like an urban legend. As long as you're not causing yourself pain, you're fine.

I just looked it up. It's only in males. It basically puts extra pressure on the base of their penis and could give them erectile disfunction.

I think you are safe!!
