A decade ago to learn English, you had to attend costly English classes or purchase course material like tapes and books. Now you can learn English for free from the comfort of your home using the internet. The BBC and the British Council offer a number of online courses which teach written and spoken English. You can also improve your English by watching television programs and reading English newspapers. For more information, visit http://tinyurl.com/qnzpt

Start with the ABC's just like you're doing.

Get some simple kids books to start out with. The real early readers that kids learn with.

Then get some magazines that she might be interested in or the newspaper and show her the words that she has learned.

That depends. Does she speak another language, or just not at all? If she speaks another language, talk to her in that language, and explain to her the rules and word placement of English. Start with basics. If she can't speak, then it's good to start with the alphabet. Then teach her the sounds the letters make and teach her to put them together in words. It's like a puzzle and you have to put in the pieces. Go from letters to words to sentences and maybe to paragraphs.

Use lots of photographs, personal getures and facial expressions. Realia - like a globe and say "earth".
Draw - and expand on the drawings, have them draw. Use a pencil and pad a lot. Write the word frequently.
- I teach English Language Learners and these things are as effective as anything.
