I lost my 15 year old son to leukemia after just 8 days after diagnosis. I went to a grief counselor twice over the past three years, and it helped tremendously. The first counselor told me to try to gain wisdom from this terrible loss. It has given me an understanding of the world - and how short and fragile life is, and that we should tell people we love them more often, be kinder and be happier. Holidays are hard. The grief never goes away - but you just get up each day and do the best you can. If you have had a loss of a loved one - my condolences to you.

I lost my son 7 years ago when he was 3 months old to SIDS. It was VERY hard. The only thing that got me through it was God. I know that he is in a better place. Even though i miss him and think about him everyday I am okay about it. I pray and this may sound silly but I say Love you out loud. It was one of the hardest thing I have ever had to go through but you have to go on with your life. Everyone handles it in different ways. Some may go in deep depression and others may keep it inside, or deal with it in there own way.

My sister lost her 19 year old son because of a drunk driver 16 years ago yesterday! She was numb for the first 10 years. Now she is in the black hole of depression. I would give anything to ease her pain!

i couldn't imagine going on after that but i feel that it's important to go to some kind of group meetings with people that have been through it cause enless you've been through it you'll never know the lost hurt and empty feeling . hope it's something i never have to experience.

Life seems pointless. You need someone to live for.

you just go on, but you still have that sad part in you. some people go into complete depression modes and sometimes kill themselves, i think.
