i would like to know if any ladies out here has had or known anyone who has had a partial hysterectomy? the reason why i ask this is because i am 28 years old and i am going to have one done. i would like to know what its like after to have this done. like the attitude and emotional part after the surgery. i am scared to death of getting this done. i would like if anyone would or could help me walk through this by giving me advice on this. thanks .

You mean where they leave your fallopian tubes right?
Well, my mother had this done because she kept getting cysts in her uterus. Her doctor and her decided that only removing her uterus would solve the problem. And by leaving the fallopian tubes in tact she would still have a normal hormone balance and no premature menopause. She healed nicely after the surgery and has had no reverse effects. All better!
You will be fine. Good luck!

I've been through that. First, are they taking your ovaries or uterus? If they are just taking your uterus, don't worry you will be fine. In fact you will probably feel much better than you do now. If they are taking your ovaries, you will need to be on hormone replacement therapy right away. Your ovaries make hormones you need to regulate your body in many ways. Talk to your doctor about your concerns. She/he will be able to tell you what you need to know.
My surgery was a vaginal hysterectomy and the recovery was pretty easy. After three weeks, I was almost back to normal. Take good care of yourself and don't push it after the surgery. Take at least a month to fully recover before you resume all your normal activities. Don't lift anything over 5lbs after the surgery, you can get some ugly scar tissue inside that will cause all kinds of trouble later. I hope the surgery goes well and you feel better soon.

My aunt had a partial. She was around 30, she's now 54 and going through menopuse. She continued to have her normal periods but could not have any more children. She told me it's the same as never having the surgery, just missing some parts. Good Luck!!!

After doing it you will be a normal woman as all women but you will lose your period. The second thing you will take pills for a time to make up for the hormons.you will enjoy all you sexual life as usual. Don't fear death because a lot of women did like you. You will be very very weak for a week after that you will get better. Good luck.

my mother had one at your age...I was a baby. The docs left one ovary in. She does not take any hormones now.... this had lead to cancer again and she had to have a partial mastectomy because of the hormone usage. Now at 65 she still gets some symptoms of menopause, but we just deal with it. I am sorry to hear at such a young age you have to go through this. best of luck and my prayers are with you.

the best thing i can tell you is that a long as you have an ovary left the side effects will be minimal and really you can find things like alternatives to estrogen therapy because the people i have none that use something Else are better off.

I'd be happy to give you a solid answer based on my thirty years' experience in my career, but you told me that I can't tell you anything because I'm a man. Oh, well. Hope you won't refuse my help if you have a medical emergency.
