It's my junior year in high school and I've been thinking about going to college out of state. My uncle asked me last year if I would be interested in going to college in San Diego and all I would have to do is give him the word and he would pay my way through. I would just have to work for him in Car Detailing business for the four years I'm in college. After that, I want to- feh, you don't want to hear what I want to do with my life...

Having lived in SD let me say it's a top notch party school!
UCSD is the premier public university there, followed by the Jesuit USD. SDSU is a very, very big school and has plenty of local, SoCal, and out of state students. I'd say it's average reputation wise. A degree from there won't knock anybody's socks off, but neither does a bachelor's degree nowadays anyway. Have fun!

I almost went there but its been known to have a reputation as a party school (but I like parties!) It just depends if you are into that and what your major is. it sounds like you got a cool uncle though.

Take a look at the web sites of US News and Princeston Review for information on schools in San Diego.

I hate California -- but think I would love living in San Diego. It is an incredibly beautiful place.

The state of California has a tiered university system -- with University of California schools at the top. UC-San Diego is a fist class university that is highly ranked.

Cal State schools -- including CSU-SD (also known as SF State University) are not as good. In fact, SD State is actually one of the worst -- being a fourth tier school in US News' rankings (there are only four tiers).

U of San Diego is a Catholic school and is a solid second tier school.

If you can get into UC-SD -- go.

It has to be somewhat decent. It's the oldest school in that area.
