scrape as much as you can from the carpet, then vaccum well. Next put a brown paper grocery bag down and iron over it. The bag will soak it up. You will need to repeat until the wax is gone.
DON'T USE A TOWEL BECAUSE THE WAX WILL JUST SPREAD AND GET MORE EMBEDDEED IN THE CARPET THREADS. IT WILL ALSO GET ON YOUR IRON
Good luck

i have to do this alot as a carpet installer/ repair speciallist. Scrape as much of the wax up as possible (try not to scrape to the point of harming the actual carpet fibers) and vacuum, then place a clean dry white towel over the area and use a regular house hold iron on high setting (not steam). heat area from outside in(do not use pressure, let the weight of the iron work for you) as not to let it spread (the terrycloth fibers act like a sponge), this will take a couple of times folding the towel each time so to keep a clean towel area to absorb more wax. when you have the area to where the carpet fibers are now seperated, take a mixture of baby shampoo and water, spray over the area amd blot with a clean white rag. be careful if you scrub the area as not to untwist the carpet fibers. vacuum and rinse a couple of times w/ clear water, dry and vacuum. the baby shampoo will cut through the grease film left behind and prevent a nasty grease spot from appearring down the road. rinsing it will eliminate the soap film that so many carpet cleaners and carpet cleaning companies leave behind( no sticky carpet on a humid day!).

Paper towels and an iron. Place the towels over the spot, heat the iron on low, and hold over the towels, to melt the wax. Keep rubbing towels on the spot and heating it, replacing the towels as needed. Remove all you can, then use a fork to spring the carpet fiber back up. If this was colored wax, use a professional cleaner for wax removal after you have absorbed all the wax you can.

try to pick out most of it then put some kitchen roll over the area and melt the wax by running a warm iron, without the steam. The wax will melt into the kitchen roll.

TEAR A PIECE OF BROWN PAPER BAG TO FIT OVER THE WAX, TAKE A HOT IRON AND PRESS DIRECTLY ON THE BAG AND THE WAX WILL STICK TO IT.
you may have to do this a couple times to get all the wax.

You can put a paper sack over it and iron it. You may have to do it a few times. But if you do it this away then you don't have to worry about the wax getting on a towel or anything it will just absobe into the papper sack and then you can throw it away.

Put brown paper over it and iron it. The heat from the iron will melt the wax and it should then stick to the paper.
