Hey, I am remodeling my bathroom but I don't know a whole lot about electricity. Can any electricians or Do it Yourself experts tell me if I can replace a single outlet with an outlet/switch combo? If so how do I?

connect the hot[black] to the outlet on one screw, connect a jumper from the other screw to the hot side of the switch. Connect the neutral to the switch then run it straight to your source which would be the light. The white [neutral] by passes the light switch in this case and goes straight to the white from the light. Make sure you hook it the outlet first otherwise the outlet won't work unless the switch is on.

Yes you can, but you need to run a wire from the "new" switch to the vanity light. The switch will have 2 screws on each side. The one side has two screws with a plate under it and they are connected. This is the "hot" side or the side where the black wire goes. The other side also has two screws, but the plate below is split. This is where the wire from the light will go. I hope this helps you. Good luck! Also, the white wires will not be connected to the switch at all. They will be wire nutted and put in the back of the box.

I have done it many times.. but.. not sure what YOU are talking about. ...by the way.. I do it all by myself and have done many replacements of vanity lights. If I understand your question.. carefully removes the existing fixture.. there should be either 2 or 3 wires.. one of those wires is a green wire(green coated) and tdhat is the ground wire. Take the new fixture and attach the wires in the same way they came off of the old fixture.
