Put yourself on their level. If you're interested in them, then there must be a reason. Mentally make the connection and use that to build confidence to make the first move.

If you can't do that, then you're probably only interested in them because they're in a position of power. They'll be able to see that pretty clearly. You'll either get rejected or completely used and discarded, as you won't have their respect.

Just decide if it's worth it, first.

If you mean, approaching someone romantically who is professionally in a position of power over you, don't do it. This is such a supremely bad idea I can't even explain all the ways that it is bad. Just only do iot if you don't mind destroying your whole career for this person.

Same way I approach anyone else that I'm interested in. Their power doesn't mean anything to me.

If he is your supervisor (or such) you don't. Period. By law it is considered sexual harassment. If anything wrong happens he can come back and say that you persued him, etc. More trouble than it's worth in the end.
