Don't go as a human character, go as an object. Like a box of popcorn, a popsicle, a can of soda. Use you imagination. Get on-line and type in, "home-made Halloween costumes" and lots of ideas will pop up. Or you could go as a girl, my friend did that one year and he was hilarious.

It depends on who you are wanting to be cool for.
If you're wanting to impress the guys, anything gory like a zombie or a bloody half-crazed surgeon will do the trick.
If you want to impress the girls, wear a nice, dark suit and cape with teeth to be a handsome Dracula; and draw the girls to you from across the room with powers only a vampire can have. Vampires never get old and you still get props from the guys.

well you could be batman,superman,the tin man even! it depends. of course don't be a pirate or a superman or somthing like that because pirates might be popular since of pirates of the carribian and superman since superman returns. just be something that expresses who you are. i'm being catwoman because i am mean and i think she is cool.
