No you do not if they are not legally yours....Unless you signed a birth certificate. Louisiana child support laws are clear, unless said child is legally yours by birth( meaning if you signed as the legal parent you may be considered just that, unless otherwise proved) or adoption than you will be held responsible.

First of all, did you sign the birth certificate? Get a DNA Test done now for peace of mind, and to figure out for SURE whether you are or Are NOT the father of the child.

After you find that answer -- go to Child Support Services Local Office in Louisiana and pick up the forms you need to fill out for Child Support Services calculation. That will give you a pretty good idea at what they consider income, expenses (Deductible) and what they will exclude. EACH State has their own formula/manual for these calculations.

I'm not sure what the Louisiana law is but I know Arkansas you do not have to pay child support on children that is not your own and that you have not adopted. I have a child by another marriage an have divorced a step dad and he wasn't responsible for her at all .Which made it OK by me because that way there wasn't any visitation either !!.

If you are neither the biological nor adoptive parent, you do not have to legally pay child support. You might look at the child support site on the Louisiana attorney generals site.

depends on how long you have taken responcibility for said child. over 5 years its 20% of your income. if you havent taken care of said child for 5 years + then you pay nothing
